Dear Joyce,

I did not disparage Cohen's knowledge; just his, and apparently your like-aligned, views that the internet, by & large, is inaccurate & not to be trusted. Many big name appraisers, dealers, auctioneers, collectors, etc. use the internet & online databases, recognizing their incredible worth. I know; I've spoken with & interviewed a number of them, including those who have been on Roadshow etc.

And don't you think, that as one of the properly educated consumers Cohen & others speak of in the article, that you should at least consider what the up-shot is to Cohen & others who wish to disparage the internet -- or any place they themselves are not sharing information at? Clearly they wish to create the illusion that they hold the only keys to information -- to keep folks paying for their services. That's as grossly inaccurate as it is unfair.

That is all I was trying to get at in this hardly "self aggrandizing" article.

Joe Cohen has been my instructor for six classes now and I have learned more from him about researching than I did in four years of college. I repeat the class because we are always learning something new. This self aggrandizing article is the exact crap Joe speaks of that circulates on the internet and is of little or no practical use to anyone.

My parents run an antique shop and it has been fascinating watching their tools evolve in the last twenty years. The internet has opened up huge new resources for sharing information, connecting with other dealers, potential buyers and enthusiasts. They've just taken the shop online.
